God’s Favor
God has favor for your life that can help and bless you greatly. God’s favor is a very good thing. When we say that someone has favor, it means that they have gained approval and have been accepted and have special benefits and blessings. And so, it is with God’s favor toward us. We have it because we are His children and because of the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross. He took our sins upon Himself on the cross and received our punishment, and that is why we now have this
favor from God upon us.
Look at what Luke 2:52 says about Jesus in his youth. It says, “Jesus continued to grow in wisdom and stature, and he enjoyed the favor of God and people all the time.” NIV, this says that Jesus enjoyed the favor of God and people. God’s favor was always upon him.
And God’s favor and grace are very similar and almost the same. If someone has favor, they also have grace. Let’s read two verses in John 1 that talk about Jesus. Verses 14 and 16. They say, “And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” From his fullness we have all received grace upon grace, NIV. So, Jesus came with grace for us and the world. And verse 16 says to believers that we have received grace upon grace through him, and it can also be said that we have received God’s favor through Christ.
How wonderful that we have this grace and favor of God upon and in our lives. This means that we have God’s approval, benefits, and blessings in our lives. That is why there is victory, healing, help, renewal, forgiveness, and many other blessings because of this favor from God. Not so much because we deserve it, but because we have it through the love and grace of our Lord. It is a beautiful gift from our God. And with this favor, God helps us a lot with others. That is, He blesses us in our jobs and families and neighborhoods and churches. When we walk in this favor, wherever we go, there is this favor with God and with people.
Although we have this favor and grace as a gift from God, there are some keys to living and walking in it and to seeing this favor grow in our lives. And remember what Luke 2:52 says, that Christ enjoyed the favor of God and of the people. Just as Christ did, there are things we can do so that we too can enjoy this favor.
Number 1 is that we must live well and away from sin. If there is sin in our lives or habits that are not so good, it will hinder God’s favor in our lives. How good it is that if we have sinned, there is always forgiveness if we confess and forsake those sins. Psalm 103:3 He forgives all your sins NIV And with this forgiveness comes
favor.
Another important thing is to live in obedience. Christ lived in perfect obedience to the Father and therefore enjoyed this favor. You must live in obedience to God’s word and will for your life. If you are a little confused about this will, you must pray and draw near to God to hear His voice and His will for your life. And again, thank God for his forgiveness, because no one is perfect, and from time to time we need to ask for forgiveness for our disobedience.
We must all continue to serve him with everything we have. When we are busy in the Lord’s service, serving him and others, there is always favor from him in our lives. He gives us favor and grace so that he can use us to grow his kingdom in the world.
Thank God that there is the blessing of favor in our lives. And as always, we must all be more in God’s word and presence to grow and enjoy this favor. God has favor and grace and help for your life today. It is time to seek Him, and God will help us today.
