God Loves You

Boys and girls in many countries are studying these same lessons. So are many of their parents and older brothers and sisters. Why? Because they all like to read about these great men and women who lived long ago. And because it is fun to look at the pictures and to do the things that you are asked to do in each lesson. Most of all you will like these lessons because of what you will learn about God.

God Loves You | Lesson 2

God Made The World You Live In

Learn this about God:

God can do what no one else can do. God can create, make something out of nothing. God made the world in six days. God made a good world for you to live in. God made six days for work and one day for rest. God tells you in Genesis how He made the world. Genesis is in the first part of God’s book, the Bible.

These words are from the Bible. Read them aloud 5 times.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1 (BV)

To do as you read and study this lesson

Ask God to help you understand what you are reading. Think about the meaning of each underlined sentence.

God made the world in six days.

God planned a wonderful world for people to live in. At first the earth did not have any shape. The earth was as dark as the darkest night. Then God moved, and the earth took shape. God spoke and there was light. Every time God spoke, something was created.

Imagine you are watching God create the world. The story of creation is from Genesis in the first part of the Bible.

The First Day

God said, “Let there be light.” God made the day and night.

The Second Day

God said, “Let the vapors separate to form the sky above and the earth below.” God separated sky from water.

The Third Day

God said, “Let the water beneath the sky be gathered into oceans.” God made land, sea, trees, and flowers.

The Fourth Day

God said, “Let there be bright lights in the sky.” God made sun, moon, and stars.

The Fifth Day

God said, “Let the waters teem with fi sh and . . . skies be filled with birds.” God made all fi sh and birds.

The Sixth Day

God said, “Let the earth bring forth every kind of animal.” God made all the animals.

God said, “Let us make man— someone like ourselves.” God made the first man and woman.

God made a good world for you to live in.

God looked at everything He had made. Everything was very good. The world was beautiful. God was very happy.

The Seventh Day

God made six days for work and one day for rest. On the seventh day God rested. He made the seventh day a day of rest. God made the day of rest for us. Six days a week we work. The seventh day we rest. We go to God’s house on our day of rest. Do you go to God’s house? In God’s house we talk with God and learn about Him. We talk with God at home too when we pray. Are you glad God made this beautiful world? Have you thanked God for making you? Learn this prayer and say it to God.

Prayer

Thank You, God, for all the world, for making all the things I see, for days of work and a day of rest; and thank You, God, for making me.
