Nehemiah (Part 1)

This reflection on Nehemiah emphasizes prayer as the starting point of restoration and leadership. Nehemiah, though a cupbearer with privileged access to the king, first yields himself to God, praying a risky prayer that makes him available to become the answer to his own request. The teaching highlights key lessons: healing requires honesty about vulnerability and dysfunction, grief and reflection must precede rebuilding, and slowing down is often necessary before decisive action. While prayer does not replace action, it must always come first. True rebuilding—of cities or lives—begins with dependence on God and courageous availability.
