A Religion That Makes You Feel Comfortable

Author: Dave Arnold

Leonard Ravenhill (1907 – 1994) was an English Christian Evangelist and author who focused on the subjects of prayer and revival. He is best known for challenging western evangelicalism (through his books and sermons) to compare itself to the early Christian Church as chronicled in the Book of Acts. He famously said, “Christianity has not been weighed in the balance and found wanting. It has been found to be too difficult and rejected.” 1

Christianity is not a theory; it is a completely committed life. “Whoever does not persevere, and carry his own cross and come after (follow) Me, cannot be My disciple. So then, any of you who do not forsake (renounce, surrender claim to, give up, say good-bye to) all he has cannot be My disciple” (Luke 14:27 and 33).

“I didn’t go to religion to make me happy.

I always knew a bottle of Port would do that.

If you want a religion to make you feel really comfortable,

I certainly don’t recommend Christianity.”

(C. S. Lewis) 2
