A Most Significant Answer

Author: Dave Arnold

A traveler in Switzerland, uncertain of his way, asked a small boy by the wayside where Kandersteg was, and received, he said, the most significant answer ever given him.

“I do not know, sir,” said the boy, “where Kandersteg is, but there is the road that leads to it.”1

“Thomas said to Him, ‘Lord, how can we know the way?’ Jesus said to him,

‘I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me’” (John 14:5, 6).

C. S. Lewis colorfully wrote in his book Mere Christianity, “A man who was merely a man, and said the sort of things Jesus said, would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic—on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg—or else he would be the Devil in Hell.

“You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God; or else a madman or something worse.”2
