60 Seconds – The Cure for Care: How to deal with worry
Author: Dave ArnoldYou might as well tell a ship to keep an even keel on a stormy sea, as to tell someone not to worry who is facing real difficulties. Just to tell another person not to worry is insufficient.
“The worried cow would have lived ’til now,
If she had saved her breath.
But she feared her hay wouldn’t last all day,
So she mooed herself to death!”
In Philippians, chapter 4, verses 6 and 7, Paul the Apostle, gives excellent advice. He wrote, “Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let your petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life” (The Message Bible).
Take everything to God in prayer, asking for His assistance, and the promise is that God’s peace will keep our mind and emotions.
J. Hudson Taylor admonished, “Let us give up our work, our thoughts, our plans, ourselves, our lives, our loved ones, our influence, our all, right into His hand, and then, when we have given all over to Him, there will be nothing left for us to be troubled about, or to make trouble about.”
Remember, you cannot change the past, but you can ruin a perfectly good present by worrying about the future!
