Confusion to Clarity

Author: The Journey Online Team

Confusion. It can mean many things to different people but it’s basically a lack of clarity and understanding. We are uncertain and unsure of what to do and where to go.

Not being clear on something can lead to other issues such as frustration, depression and guilt. Not being able to see clearly on what to do or what’s to happen causes frustration and irritation. We can become agitated with our loved ones or friends. We may lash out at those that mean us no harm or simply wilt away into a pile of hopelessness.

Finding Clarity

Truth and clarity are the opposite of confusion. Confusion destroys while truth builds up. Do you feel that your confusion about what you should believe in this world is eating you alive? You may feel helpless or that no one really knows what truth is anymore.

The world is filled with voices, opinions, possibilities and directions. Which way do you go and whom do you believe? It can be very confusing.

It’s different for those that have put their faith in Jesus Christ.

The Bible says that Jesus is the way, the TRUTH and the life; not just that He speaks truth, but that He IS truth. Everything about Jesus is clarity and understanding. Jesus is the Son of God. He is one with God and, therefore, is absolutely perfect in every way.

Jesus is the only one who claimed to be God. Muhammad didn’t claim to be God, Buddha didn’t claim to be God and neither did Joseph Smith, leader of the Mormon Church. Jesus Christ is the only one in history who claimed to be God, and He is the only one who has ever lived a sinless life.

The Bible speaks of truth over 230 times, and this tells me that God wants me to know the truth. I do not need to be confused about the trials of this world. God is the author of truth. 1 Corinthians 14:33 says that “God is not a God of confusion, but of peace.” He desires truth, understanding and clarity for all His children.

(Call Out) “God promises… understanding and wisdom if we simply ask.”

We don’t have to be bogged down and drowning in confusion. Jesus is the same today and forever and will never change. God promises many times to give us understanding and wisdom if we simply ask. 2 Timothy 2:7 says “for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.” Psalm 119:169 says, “Oh Lord; give me understanding according to your word.” Psalm 119:34 says, “Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with my whole heart.”

God promises that he will guide us into all truth. John 16:13 says “[God] will guide you into all truth, for He will not speak on his own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak and He will declare to you the things that are to come.”

So what are we to do?

It all comes down to faith and trust. God promises us clarity and understanding if we put our faith and trust in Him. By obeying Him and following His word, we are guaranteed clarity and understanding. We are taught how to understand. Philippians 4:8-9 says, “Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.”

When you are ready for clarity, peace and understanding, pray this prayer with me.

Jesus, forgive me for trusting in myself for too long. I am weak, I am confused, and I am broken. I need your clarity, your peace, and your understanding. Only you can provide absolute truth in a deceptive world. Come into my life and make me new. Renew my spirit and my mind for clarity, peace and understanding. Thank you for choosing me as your beloved. In Jesus name, amen.
