You’re Invited to a Wedding!

Author: Joan Buchanan

Scripture:

Revelation 19:9
Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!'” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.”

Reflection:

My word for you today is to make sure you are ready for the coming of the Lord. We must accept responsibility for our lives because Jesus is coming back, and ultimately we will answer to Him! Please, do not miss out on the greatest event in your life!

Wedding bells are ringing! The aroma of preparations is in the air! Brides are scurrying around making arrangements for their beautiful springtime and summer weddings. Invitations are being sealed and postmarked with love and excitement. Brides are scanning through dress patterns and shopping in a frenzy to find just the perfect wedding dress. Oh, how I love the fanfare of weddings with all the beautiful floral decorations, table settings and, let’s not leave out, the banquet table filled with all kinds of goodies.

There is another banquet that is in preparation at this very moment.

This delightful banquet being prepared will surpass any feast we could ever imagine, and the invitations have already been sent! Only those who have received the Holy Spirit will be allowed to attend this banquet. He has asked you for your hand and all have received their invitation. The prerequisite for this banquet is to know and love Jesus Christ. The Bible says, “excuses are not acceptable” (Luke 14:16-24; Matthew 22:1-14; Matthew 25:1-13).

In the Old and New Testament there are over 2400 prophecies of Christ’s coming. Christ has certainly given out enough invitations to let His devoted followers know that He has planned a huge banquet just for them. I cannot wait, I do believe it will be any day now!

The invitation of the gospel is being proclaimed throughout the world.

Yet, scripture tells us, “for many are invited, but few will come.”

“But small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life, and only a few find it” (Matthew 7:14).

I heard a story years ago about a very wealthy man from the east. He would go west every year to buy cattle, but this particular year he sent his son to take his place. On the son’s arrival, they prepared a huge feast on the ranch so he could meet everyone and they could meet him.

In the crowd was a little servant girl who worked very hard on the ranch. However, there was something different about her that drew this wealthy young man to her. During his stay, he fell in love with this little servant girl. All the other girls made fun of her. They would say, “Why would he want someone like you?” Nevertheless, she and this wealthy young man fell in love.

As the young man was preparing to go back east, he said to this little servant girl, “I love you, and I will go back home and make arrangements to come back for you. Therefore, look for me, because I will be back.”

Her love for him was so sincere.

She worked very hard to earn the money for her wedding dress. All the while, the other young ladies laughed and made fun of her. They said, “He is not coming back for you.” She paid no attention to their cruel words. She just kept preparing for her loved one’s return. She had her beautiful wedding dress ready for the great event. Everyday, she would look down the long road to see if he was coming. Every day she lived for his return. Her wedding dress was laid out and ready for the special day.

One day, as she was looking, in the far distance she could see the young man coming down the road. He promised he would come back, she prepared herself and he did return like he said he would.

Have your wedding garment on and be ready to go. Jesus is coming back, like He said He would!

Luke 12:37 “The servants who are ready and waiting for his return will be rewarded. I tell you the truth. He himself will seat them, put on an apron and serve them as they sit and eat! He may come in the middle of the night or just before dawn. But whenever he comes, he will reward the servants who are ready.”

Revelation 19:6-9 “And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.”

Revelation 3:2-3 “Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God. Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.”

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.”

Luke 12:36 “And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.”

Luke 12:40 “Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.”

Turn your life over to Jesus Christ today, He loves you.

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Acts 3:19 “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,

John 1:12 “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:”

Romans 10:9 “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit:

Acts 2:4 “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.”

Acts 13:52 “And the disciples were continually filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.”

Prayer:

Father God, in the name of Jesus I pray that you will cause ears to be opened and hearts to receive your son Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, right now. Let there be conviction of sin and a need to repent, and the ability by faith to receive you. Allow the Holy Spirit to show them their need for you right now. Lord, fill them to overflowing with your Holy Spirit. Let the Power of God surround them and be in them right now, in Jesus Name!
