God’s Grace is Powerful.

How wonderful that we are in the age of God’s grace, and this age began with the arrival of Christ in the New Testament.

In this lesson, we are going to talk about other aspects of grace.

We all know that as human beings, we occasionally make mistakes and fail. Even as Christians. How wonderful it is that in times like these there is grace to help us. There is forgiveness when we fall. I like what it says in 1 John 1:9, which was addressed to believers. It says, “9 But if we confess our sins to God, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (NLT)

Because of his grace, there is always forgiveness if we confess our sins and try to stop doing them.

But in times like these, we sometimes walk around with a lot of guilt and feel discouraged. In these times, the enemy, the devil, comes to accuse us. It is one of his jobs. Look at what Revelation 12:10 says: 10 Then I heard a loud voice in the sky say, “Now the salvation and the power of our God have come, and his kingdom has come, and the reign of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been thrown down. (NIV)

He is an accuser and always comes to condemn us. I like to think of something to help me understand that there is grace for my life in those times. Think of a courtroom, a court of justice. There is always a judge there to decide the case and pass judgment if necessary. There is also always a prosecutor to accuse someone of a crime. There is the accused person and his lawyer. Now think of a heavenly court. The judge is God the Father. And he is very good because he already knows everything. There is a prosecutor, and in this case, it is the devil to accuse this person. It could be me. And the devil says, judge, you must punish this one because he has sinned and deserves punishment. He is partly right because I have failed. But the thing is, I have a good lawyer, the best. His name is the Lord Jesus Christ. And the judge is his father, which is also a help. My lawyer says to the judge, “Father, there is no problem. He is mine and is forgiven by my blood.” And the judge says, “Not guilty, case closed,” and the devil must flee.

That’s right, you don’t have to walk around feeling guilty; you have been forgiven by grace. Something beautiful about forgiveness is found in Isaiah 43:25: “It is I, I alone, who for my own sake, blot out your transgressions and remember your sins no more.” *(NIV) He doesn’t remember our sins.

Another thing to know about grace is that God’s grace is very powerful.

Let’s look at some verses in Romans 5.

Starting with verse 17, it says, “17 For is by the sin of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.” (NIV) How wonderful! If we receive this grace, we can reign over sin and problems and the flesh and all the evil things of the world.

And look at verses 20 and 21: “20 As for the law, it was added so that the sin might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, 21 so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (NIV)

In other words, grace is stronger and more powerful than sin. Again, it says that this grace reigns over sin and gives us justification and life through Jesus.

Thank God for His grace, and this grace is here with us today. There is grace to help you today in your situation and circumstances.

You only need to ask for God’s help and receive it. The greatest gift of grace is salvation when Christ forgives us, changes us, and gives us eternal life, and this is available today.
