Day 65: Undeniable Resurrection

Author: Samuel Mathai

Today’s Scripture: Mark 12 18-37

Central Thought: The Resurrection is undeniable because the power of resurrection is still at work

Even many of the most determined enemies of the gospel or the hardest critics of Christianity are fearful of confronting the issue of the Resurrection because they know that the doctrine of resurrection is a reality.

A French atheist one time confessed to a group of Christians that ‘you Christians stand on the fragrance of an empty tomb.” Mr. Gandhi, who is one of the most revered men of India and known as the father of the nation, often quoted the Bible in his speeches. When he died and was buried, one of his close friends, Mrs. Naidu, went to the cemetery on the third day and cried out: ‘Jesus Christ was resurrected on the third day; you too, come out of the grave.” That was decades ago, and so far it has not happened.

The resurrection of Christ is a fact. And it is the foundation of Christian faith. Paul said, ‘If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile [worthless] and you are still in your sins” (1 Corinthians 15:17). If I do not believe the Resurrection is true, then Jesus cannot be my God. To me, He is just another human. I cannot trust the Bible, and there is no hope for me to have life after death, divine guidance, or truth or morality in this life. If I believe the Resurrection is true, I have hope for a meaningful earthly existence and life after death.

Devotional Prayer: Thank you God, for sending Jesus Christ to die on the cross for my sins, and thank you for raising Him again to give me hope in the power of His resurrection.
