Day 49: Trusting God with Our Lives

Author: Richard L. Schoonover

Today’s Scripture: Psalm 37:1-11

Central Thought: When we ask God, He will direct our paths

Have you ever been frustrated and worried over the inequities of life? Have you ever wondered why, when you are serving God, you still have difficulties? And why does evil seem to prevail?

David found the solution to these questions. First, it was not in worrying about the things we cannot change. God is in control and those who seemed to have the upper hand and promoted evil would not live forever (Psalm 37:1,2,9,10). We cannot allow their actions to draw our attention from God’s purpose for us.

Second, David knew that to live above the inequities in this world, he needed to focus his attention on God (verses 3-5). Even when life does not seem to be going right for us, we can still trust God. He knows what is best for us. And even in the difficulties of life He will direct us.

Becoming angry at those who harm us is only detrimental to our spiritual walk (verse 8). Rather, we are to delight in God, commit our lives to Him, and wait patiently for His plan to be unfolded (verses 4,5,7).

Turn to God today, and give Him all the frustrations and difficulties you are experiencing. Ask Him to give you wisdom and direct your life. As you do, you will discover His peace, and His righteousness will flow through you to others (verse 6).

Devotional Prayer: Lord, I bring to You all my frustrations and difficulties, and I ask You to help me to know Your peace even during the most difficult circumstances in my life.
