Day 274: Enduring Fruit

Author: Sherman Shell

Today’s Scripture: Philippians 1:27-30

Central Thought: May those who participated in my journey to salvation not be ashamed or disappointed by how I have responded and lived my life.

Many people have been involved in my spiritual journey. My mother prayed often and shed many tears over her eighth child. The local pastor sloshed through muddy waters to visit. Then there was the lady who drove five miles each way to pick up my siblings and me and take us to church. The small-church pastor had a big heart and worked a secular job to support his ministry to the small congregation. A businessman helped finance my Bible college education. Teachers, preachers, evangelists, and many others prayed for me and taught me the truth.

Think of how many people touched your life on your road to salvation. Have you been involved in the lives of others who in turn think of the influence you have had on their lives? This is the preferred cycle.

Devotional Prayer: Father, help me always to live life in a way that is pleasing to You. May all those who participated in my life be pleased they took the time, spent the money, prayed, and sacrificed so I could rejoice with them as we worship You throughout eternity!

Today’s Bible Reading: Isaiah 60:1-62:5; Philippians 1:27-2:18; Psalm 72:1-20; Proverbs 24:11-12
