Day 273: Before Birth to Old Age

Author: Sherman Shell

Today’s Scripture: Psalm 71

Central Thought: As God kept the Psalmist from the time he was in his mother’s womb until his old age, so He will keep each person who trusts in Him.

Eighty-two-year-old Uncle Will has preached the gospel more than 60 years! He still loves God as much today as he did when he first asked Jesus Christ to be his Lord and Savior! Uncle Will has been through many hurts and heartaches. His first wife died. His only child has ALS. He has survived all his brothers and one sister. He has seen his beloved country at war many times. He has seen people fall away from faith in Christ. But he has also seen many positive things. In all and through it all, he continues to love God with all his heart, mind, soul, and body.

The Psalmist testifies in this psalm of the same goodness and greatness of God that my Uncle Will has experienced. As we trust in God through Jesus Christ we, too, shall experience His many blessings and benefits: salvation, healing, deliverance, blessings in every way!

May we renew our commitment once again to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!

Devotional Prayer: Father, work in my heart and spirit every day so I will not sin against You. Do whatever You must do to keep me true to You. I love You and commit myself to You once again.

Today’s Bible Reading: Isaiah 57:14-59:21; Philippians 1:1-26; Psalm 71:1-24; Proverbs 24:9-10
