OT Fire Starters – Day 202: Pslams 23-25

READ: Psalms 23-25

THINK: Do you ever feel like you don’t have what it takes to fulfill God’s purpose for you life? It’s true that at this very moment you don’t have everything you’ll ever need for what God has in store, but God has given you everything you need to accomplish His plans for you at the present time. And He will continue to give you what you need at just the right time. But you must persistently rely on Him. Sometimes the path on which He leads you is difficult; at other times it’s refreshing. Either way, He takes care of your needs every step of the way. As you continue to pursue a deeper relationship with Jesus and a more thorough understanding of how He desires to work in your life, He will use you to accomplish His purposes right now and for the rest of your life.

RESPOND: Why is the Lord described as a Shepherd, and what does this mean for His followers? (See 23:1 first note.) How are people like sheep, and what does Jesus do for those who trust in Him? What does it mean for God’s followers to “not be in want”? (See 23:1 second note.) In what ways does God give His people rest and peace? (See 23:2 note.) Why don’t God’s followers have to fear difficulty or even death? (See 23:4 note.) What does it mean that God prepares a table for us in the presence of our enemies? (See 23:5 note.) Who can enjoy the blessings and benefits of God’s presence (24:1-5)? (See 24:4 and 24:5 notes.) How can you keep “clean hands and a pure heart” (24:6)? Who is “the King of glory” (24:7-10), and in what way are these verses prophetic? (See 24:7-10 note.) How does God show you His ways, teach you His paths and guide you in His truth (25:4-5)? What basic principles does Psalm 25 give for knowing and succeeding in God’s ways? (See 25:4 note, subpoints 1-5.) What’s the key to receiving God’s guidance? (See 25:12 note, subpoint 4.) In whom does God confide, and why? (See 25:14 note.)

PRAY: Give thanks for God’s guidance, protection and provision. Ask God to help you keep your actions clean and your motives pure.

ACT: Make a deliberate effort to honor God and reflect His character and purposes in all you do today. Be particularly conscious of God’s guidance, and rely on His leadership and strength to do and say whatever He wants you to.
