Day 363: Work Heartily

Today’s Scripture: Colossians 3:23

Central Thought: We should work each day with the attitude that it is for the Lord.

Sometimes we get weary of the everyday tasks in life. When I was newly married, I became very concerned about being able to fulfill the call of God on my life. I had assumed the responsibility of taking care of a household and a husband as well as working at a full-time job. It was difficult to get everything done.

As I sincerely sought God about my concerns, He led me to Colossians 3:23. God showed me through this verse that in all I do, my attitude should be that I am doing it for the Lord. This verse caused me to try to do each task like Jesus would if He were doing it. For instance, I wanted to be an employee like Jesus would be and a member of my church like Jesus would be. I would take care of my household like Jesus would if He were actually here doing the same things I was doing.

Jesus understands our everyday life and will help us have the correct attitude as we live it.

Devotional Prayer: Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ asking You to help me with my attitude. I know that I can do all I do—regardless how small or large the task—as unto You.
