Day 279: God Is Great
Author: Richard J. BennettToday’s Scripture: Psalm 77:11-15
Central Thought: Christians need to take time to meditate on the nature of God.
Use five words to describe your spouse or best friend in 30 seconds or less. Time’s up! Did you find it easy or difficult? Now do this same exercise to describe God. Time’s up! Which exercise was easier?
In Psalm 77, the Psalmist took time to reflect on who God is and what He does. He described God as One who does mighty deeds, whose way is holy, One who is uniquely great, and One who redeems. This is obviously a very short list, but it tells us a lot about God.
Take some time today to think about who God is and what He does. You may not want to write your own psalm, but you can make a list and place it in your Bible. The next time a problem comes up that seems really big, read through your list to remind you just how great God is.
Devotional Prayer: Lord, help me to remember just how great You are and to trust that You are greater than any problem I may face.
