Day 301: Restoration
Author: Don BaileyToday’s Scripture: Jeremiah 52:31-34
Central Thought: God can restore those who have lost hope.
‘You want that old piece of junk! I’ll let you take it for $100, and I’ll just be happy to get rid of it.” Stefan did not see a piece of junk when he looked at the ’57 Ford. He saw the potential collector’s item that he had always wanted to rebuild. Over the next 12 months, Stefan meticulously restored his precious find until it looked as good as new. When he took his ‘jewel” to the antique auto auction, a buyer gladly plunked down $15,000 for the ‘$100 piece of junk.”
Someone might have looked at Jehoiachin’s circumstances and seen no hope. Formerly the king of Judah, Jehoiachin was now a prisoner and had been for the last 37 years. Little hope seemed apparent; yet, the king of Babylon looked favorably upon Jehoiachin. The former king of Judah was released from prison and allowed to receive an allowance and eat at the table of the king of Babylon for the rest of his life.
We cannot afford to give up on those who seem hopeless. God wants everyone to know Him and will continue seeking the lost to bring them into fellowship with Him.
Devotional Prayer: Lord, help me to see hope in those whose lives seem to be hopeless.
