Day 292: God Remains Faithful

Author: Travis Busby

Today’s Scripture: Psalm 89:8 (NIV)

Central Thought: Faithfulness is the character of God.

‘O Lord God Almighty, who is like you? You are mighty, O Lord, and your faithfulness surrounds you.” When you see someone who is happy you might say, ‘there is a glow about them.” We often associate someone’s appearance with who they are. It is common for man to judge the outward appearance. Usually this is a negative as we do not have the ability to look into the heart. However, what we see from God tells us much about who He is.

Faithfulness is the very nature and character of God. In a day when many are not true to their word, God remains faithful to His. Every promise the Lord has made will come to pass. Every prayer He has heard will bring an answer. Although we may not remain faithful with our commitment to the Lord, He always remains faithful (2 Timothy 2:13).

When we look at God, we see how faithful He remains. With Israel He always remains faithful. With believers He always remains faithful. Remember this, dear friend; this cannot be overstated, Our God is faithful no matter what. As James writes, ‘there is no [variation] or shadow of turning” regarding God (James 1:17 KJV). God does not change and He will not fail to uphold His Word.

Devotional Prayer: Lord, help me to remember that You are always faithful. Forgive me when I challenge that You have forgotten Your promises to me. I believe You will fulfill Your word to me.
