Day 333: God’s Mercy and Grace

Author: Thomas Allison

Today’s Scripture: Hebrews 4:1-16

Central Thought: Jesus, who was tempted in every way that we are, provides mercy and grace through faith.

Have you ever heard a story you found hard to believe? The Israelites believed in the story of the land of milk and honey. They just found it hard to believe that God could help them defeat the giants that lived there. So those that did not believe did not receive the promise of God. It took faith for the Israelites to enter the Promised Land.

Many of us have trouble forgiving one another. We say things like ‘I do not know why people do this or say that,” when really we are disturbed that someone else’s failure has fallen so close to our own. It takes faith in others to forgive.

It takes faith to believe that one man, any man could live on this earth for thirty-three years and never commit a sin. Jesus was not just one man or any man, he was God’s Son. Even so, he was tempted in every manner just as we are tempted. Jesus knows our weaknesses; but if we believe in Him, we can claim the promise of God’s mercy and grace. We can have the promise of God through faith.

Devotional Prayer: God help me know the joy of forgiving others.
