Day 316: Driven by Faith

Author: Don Bailey

Today’s Scripture: Hebrews 11:13-16

Central Thought: Faith compels us to serve God even when we do not see the results.

Being a seed planter can sometimes be frustrating. Some seed yields a very productive harvest; some, a mediocre crop and still produces very little if any yield. Despite these frustrations, people continue to plant seeds. They are motivated by the results of the successful plantings, and those results help them make it through the not-so-successful times.

Today’s reading focuses on several who kept on believing, even though they died without seeing the results for which they believed. These people trusted God to keep His promises. Even though they did not see the results, God did indeed keep His promises. People who develop this type of faith are not motivated by circumstances. Their faith is in God and in His nature. To them, there just simply is no other acceptable option except to believe.

God wants us to put our trust in Him to this same degree. We, too, may not see everything God has promised us during our life times. However, we can place our trust in Him and rest in the assurance that He will keep His promises. No matter the challenges we face, we can be driven by faith in Him.

Devotional Prayer: Thank You for renewing my hope in Your faithfulness.
