Day 144: Finding the Path to Righteousness

Author: Scott Hassett

Today’s Scripture: Psalm 119:2-3

Central Thought: Observing His Word and seeking His face are the foundations for righteous living.

We all want to walk uprightly. It is our desire to walk the straight path of righteousness in our words and deeds. Some days it is hard to even find the path, much less walk it. Where do we start? These verses give us a road sign.

‘Blessed are those who keep His testimonies…”

Have we observed His testimonies? Are we constantly remembering the things that He has done? Are we filling our minds with His Word? Are we actively seeking out and associating with others who glorify Him?

‘…who seek Him with all their heart.”

Are we seeking Him with all our hearts? Are we walking through our day on the lookout for God’s hand in our circumstances? Are we studying His Word to learn more about Him? Are we removing other things from our lives that fight for a place in our affections? Are we listening for His still, small voice to speak in our hearts?

All of these actions tune our hearts to the eternal frequency and arrange our perspective to match God’s. As we cultivate these habits in our lives, we are assured in verse 3 that we will ‘also do no wrong, but walk in his ways!”

Devotional Prayer: Lord God, who are worthy of all our affection, remind us this day that Your will is the goal of our lives. Remind us that as we abide in You and You abide in us, we will produce the fruit of righteousness. Glorify Your name and Your Gospel in us and through us today.
