Day 187: Youth to the Rescue!

Author: Don Bailey

Today’s Scripture: Acts 23:12-22

Central Thought: God can use people of any age to accomplish His plan.

‘What is wrong with the younger generation? They seem to be so irresponsible, and it does not seem like they have any desire to serve God.” Some people mistakenly look at a small sample of today’s youth and conclude that everyone in that age bracket has the same attitude and problems. Yet, as we consider today’s reading, we are reminded that God can depend on people of any age who are willing to serve Him.

We do not know the age of Paul’s nephew, but there is evidence that he was still a child. Yet, this young man overheard a plot by more than forty Jewish men to kill Paul. Rather than giving in to fear, Paul’s nephew went to the barracks where Paul was being held prisoner and warned his uncle about this plot. Paul asked a centurion to take his nephew to the Roman commander. The commander listened to the young man and cautioned him not to tell anyone else what he had said.

God used this young man and will use anyone of any age who trusts in Him. We should never place limits on whom God can use to carry out His plans.

Devotional Prayer: Thank You for using willing people of any age.
