Day 186: Exalt the Son
Author: Don BaileyToday’s Scripture: Psalm 2:1-12
Central Thought: God has uniquely honored His Son, and so should we.
Some people and nations pride themselves regarding their might, resources, and their own perception of how good they are. People or nations with such an overly exalted view of themselves may think they have no time to ‘waste” acknowledging God. However, as we read today, no one can stand against the exalted Christ.
Psalm 2 is packed with prophecies about Christ’s First Coming. The unrighteous nations are pictured as standing in defiance against God’s Son. They plan to throw off His rule over them. Yet, the Lord ‘scoffs” at their feeble attempts at rebellion and mightily overcomes any opposition. The Psalm concludes with the admonition to serve the Lord and not risk His wrath.
We cannot afford to only picture the little baby in the manger when we think of Christ. This baby came from heaven as One who is fully God, grew into maturity, died on the Cross, rose again, and returned to the Father’s right hand as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Such a mighty Lord deserves our exaltation and total loyalty. We should continually worship and honor Him as the Lord of our lives.
Devotional Prayer: Thank You, Lord for Your incredible grace.
