Day 192: Who Do You Belong To?
Author: Richard J. BennettToday’s Scripture: Acts 27:21-44
Central Thought: If you belong to God, you can weather any storm.
I once saw a sign in a convenience store that read something like this: Missing dog. Short, dirty brown fur. Blind in one eye. Missing part of one ear. Only has three legs. Answers to the name ‘Lucky.” If found, please call…
One has to wonder if the apostle Paul was feeling a bit like Lucky. He had been wrongly accused, held in prison for two years, and was now on a ship that had been driven by a furious storm for 14 days. The situation was so bad that Acts 27:20 states ‘all hope of our being saved was at last abandoned.”
Then God stepped into the picture. He sent an angel to Paul to assure him that God would rescue him and all his shipmates (verses 23-24). When Paul shared this message with those on the ship, he told them the message came from ‘the God to whom I belong and whom I worship.” Paul had faith in God because he belonged to Him.
Do you belong to God? Then you too have promises from God to assure you when you face the storms of life. There may be times when you will be shipwrecked, but God will keep you. There may be times when God calms the storm. However God chooses to work in your life, you can have faith in Him if you belong to Him.
Devotional Prayer: God, I am thankful for the confidence I can have no matter what life may throw at me because I belong to You.
