Day 30: From Fear to Faith

Today’s Scripture: Psalm 25:1-15

Central Thought: David’s Psalm is our prayer

David expressed the cry of his heart through this psalm, which mirrors our prayers. We may not use the same words, but the intent of what he said fits many of our pleas to God.

Praise: David opened with praise that the Lord can be trusted. However, he quickly admits he is afraid of failing in God’s sight and being shamed. Praise builds faith in God rather than in ourselves.

Guidance: David asked for direction from the Lord, knowing that his only hope is for Him to come to his rescue. Reading the Word of God and praying is vital for us to know how to proceed to make the right choices.

Remembrance: David dwelt on God’s past goodness, faithfulness, and love. Reminiscing about answers to prayers and the Lord’s work in our lives is a faith builder.

Forgiveness: David not only remembered his past transgressions, but asked forgiveness of present sins. The memory of our past failures may pop into our thoughts; but once our sins are forgiven, the Lord remembers them no more (Jeremiah 31:34 NKJV). When the Holy Spirit brings one of our actions to our attention as being sinful, we need to ask the Lord for forgiveness immediately.

Faith: Finally, David looked through the eyes of faith and believed in the deliverance from the entanglement of the dilemma. We can have peace as we are reminded that the Lord is working in all things, and His way is always best.

Devotional Prayer: Lord, I know You understand my fears and anxieties. Please help me to look through the eyes of faith and see circumstances in a way that it is pleasing toYou. Thank You for giving me peace that Your love surrounds me.
