Faith Walk: Why do we Pray?

Author: Dr. George Flattery

It has been written that the main purpose of prayer is not to make life easier, nor to gain magical powers, but “to know God.”

We pray to keep in constant contact and communication with the Father. Our prayers do not inform God of our situation, our prayers involve in God in our situation. We pray to communicate our real feelings about a situation. We can be real and honest with God. We pray because it helps us recognize that we are not God. We need something else, something beyond ourselves. We pray to gain strength from God. Psalms 50:15: “Call upon me in your day of trouble and I will answer.” And now, let us pray.

Daily encouragements reminding us how to continually walk in faith. Taken from Dr. George Flattery's Facebook devotional series.
