Faith Walk: Learning Humility

Author: Dr. George Flattery

There is a difference between a humbling and a humiliating experience.

A humbling experience always lifts us up and draws us closer to God and others. A humiliating experience always tears us down and seeks to demean and shame us. Mother Teresa said that we learn humility through accepting humiliations cheerfully. When we are humiliated, we do not retaliate or dwell in resentment. We forgive. We do not wallow in self-pity but we learn from it and move on. Hebrews 5:6, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.”

Daily encouragements reminding us how to continually walk in faith. Taken from Dr. George Flattery's Facebook devotional series.
