Faith Walk: Disappointment
Author: Dr. George FlatteryWhen people do not meet our expectations or treat us in the way we want or expect to be treated, when circumstances do not meet our expectations, when we expect more out of ourselves than we are able to accomplish, we can be disappointed.
Disappointment can lead to discouragement which can lead to depression. We can feel pushed down, sad and lonely. What can we do? We can choose to lay aside our emotions and focus on our purpose. We can worship. David prays in Psalms 42:5: “Why, my soul, are you so downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” We can keep moving forward knowing that after our greatest disappointment we many times experience our greatest achievement. It has been written that it was by perseverance that the snail reached Noah’s ark.
