Day 342: The Mighty Wind
Author: Don BaileyToday’s Scripture: Joel 2:28-32
Central Thought: God promised to pour His Spirit out in our world.
Today’s Pentecostal revival has been one of the greatest phenomena to happen to Christianity in many years. From very humble beginnings at the turn of the twentieth century, many millions of people have been filled with the Holy Spirit and power. Pentecostal churches are the most rapidly growing segment of Christianity, especially outside the United States. Pentecostals have gone from being the ‘holy rollers” on the other side of the tracks, to being a vital force in evangelical Christianity.
Today’s reading gives us a prediction of a mighty outpouring of God’s Spirit similar to what we see today. Two important points need to be made. First, this outpouring precedes God’s wrath and judgment upon the Earth. Second, the purpose for this outpouring is the salvation of everyone who calls upon the Lord.
If you have not already been baptized in the Holy Spirit, you have a wonderful experience awaiting you. God desires that you have the fullness of His Spirit in your life, so that you can have the power to be a witness for Him. Let Him fill you with the Holy Spirit today.
Devotional Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for the opportunity to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
