Day 339: We Are Not Shaken
Author: Don BaileyToday’s Scripture: Psalm 125:1-5
Central Thought: Our trust in God will help us to not be shaken in our faith.
The damage was devastating. Entire villages were wiped out—and with it entire families. The destructive power unleashed by the tsunamis on coastal areas of the Indian Ocean left nations shaken with fear. Though many nations rushed medical personnel, reconstruction workers, much money, and supplies to help these areas, the emotional damage these waves caused remains.
As the worshippers ascended Mt. Zion in today’s reading they sung this reminder that those who trust in God are like the stability of the mountain they were climbing. They realized that just as mountains surrounded their beloved city, so the Lord surrounded His beloved people and protected them. God would never allow the unrighteous to endure, but He will always sustain His people.
As children of God, we are also blessed by His promises of protection. There are many challenges in life that would shake us in our faith if we allowed them that opportunity. We need to be like the worshippers on their way up the Temple Mount. God has helped us many times in the past and is ready to help us with the challenges we face today. Let us thank Him for that help.
Devotional Prayer: Help me, Lord, to remain unshaken in my walk with You.
