Day 365: A Scroll of Remembrance

Author: Don Bailey

Today’s Scripture: Malachi 3:16-18

Central Thought: The Lord knows those who chose to serve Him.

Remembering can be one of the most important things Christians can do. We remember the promises in God’s Word, the way He worked in the life of the nation of Israel, and the way He has met our needs in the past. Yet, as important as this remembering is, we should not forget that God remembers us and our commitment to Him.

Malachi speaks of those ‘who feared the Lord” getting together and talking with each other. The Lord listened to their dialogue and created a scroll to remember those who feared and honored Him. This scroll of memory was no small event to God. He vowed to remember these people and spare them when it was time for judgment and rewards to be given. In fact, this passage describes His people as a ‘treasured possession.”

What an honor we have for God to consider us a treasured possession! Knowing this can help us see our lives in a different light. Instead of trudging through life, we can see that God has a purpose for our lives. We will find a much more meaningful life when we consider that our lives have a divine purpose.

Devotional Prayer: Thank You for remembering my decision to serve You.
