Day 360: On a White Horse

Author: Don Bailey

Today’s Scripture: Revelation 19:11-16

Central Thought: Christ alone is King of kings and Lord of lords.

‘No other name but the name of Jesus.” There is no one like Jesus. Many good people have lived fine lives, but no one has ever come close to accomplishing what Christ did in His roughly 33 years of life. As good as those years were, they are but a shadow of Christ’s continuing work in our world over the next 2,000 years. Truly, Jesus was and is our only hope of salvation.

This passage in Revelation describes the glorious return of Christ to earth. There are no lowly mangers in this appearance. Here Jesus comes in all of His glory to bring God’s wrath on a world that has rejected Him. Jesus wears a title that only He is qualified to bear—King of kings and Lord of lords.

Reading passages such as today’s should remind us of our continuing need to acknowledge the lordship of Jesus Christ in our lives. Christ does not simply want us to say nice things about Him, He wants us to surrender our lives to Him afresh. This would be a good time to reaffirm our faith in Him as our King and Lord.

Devotional Prayer: I bow before You as King of kings and Lord of lords.
