Day 364: When Our Strength Is Not Enough
Author: Barbara LighthizerToday’s Scripture: Zechariah 4:6 (NIV)
Central Thought: The Source of true power is God.
Overwhelmed by the angel’s message and the visions he saw, the prophet Zechariah could not conceive how these things could ever come to pass. The angel answered his concern. ”Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit’ says the Lord Almighty” (Zechariah 4:6). This is a declaration of God’s power to fulfill His purpose in future events. It is also an encouragement to the Israelites to continue rebuilding the temple of God and assurance that He will help them complete their task.
God’s message is for each one of us. Life often brings situations where our physical, emotional, and financial resources are spent. But by God’s Spirit working through us and on our behalf, we will emerge stronger in the Lord. We are unable to overcome all the obstacles we face, but the Spirit of Almighty God will supply what we need to weather any trial.
Devotional Prayer: Lord, please help me not to fear when the circumstances of life overwhelm me, but help me call on You and rely on Your strength, not mine. Thank You, Lord, for always being with me.
