Day 353: Never Out of Sight
Author: Barbara LighthizerToday’s Scripture: Psalm 139:1-15
Central Thought: The Lord watches over us.
David staggered with the realization of God’s participation in every aspect of life. He acknowledged that God saw him in his daily routine and knew his thoughts—even before he formed them.
As the king of Israel pondered this concept, he acknowledged he could not find a place where God did not see him. If he fled to the depths of the earth, or could fly to the heavens, he would never be out of the Lord’s sight. What good would it do David to run from the Lord—He would block his path as He did Jonah’s when he tried to escape from God.
Finally, David realized that even in the womb of a pregnant woman, hidden from view of all human eyes, Almighty God is actively forming life. He is the one who forms us, and then watches over us throughout our lives.
Some people feel very uncomfortable knowing that nothing is hidden from God’s sight. However, Christians rejoice in a loving God who watches over them as a father watches over his children. Parents can rest in the knowledge that even when they are not present when their children need help, the Lord sees what they need.
Devotional Prayer: Lord, thank You for creating us and never letting us out of Your sight. Help my thoughts and actions to please You.
