Day 352: God’s Faithfulness
Author: Barbara LighthizerToday’s Scripture: Psalm 138:1-8
Central Thought: The Lord has a purpose for each one of us.
David sang praises in adoration to God when he understood the faithfulness of the Lord in his life. As King of Israel, David carried a tremendous responsibility to lead, by word and example, a group of people who often strayed from the instructions of God. Throughout David’s life, he experienced periods of depression and worry, but the Lord was faithful. People often failed David, but God was always trustworthy. He helped David work through his problems.
David was chosen to lead the Jewish nation. Through David’s dedication to his work, God’s purpose was fulfilled for David’s life. We can have that same confidence. The Lord’s plan for each of our lives is uniquely designed for us. He gave us certain talents and gifts. Our place of service may be school teacher, engineer, office worker, or any of many other occupations. But our function in God’s plan is as important as a pastor’s calling. Just as the Lord worked in David’s life to fulfill His purpose, Jesus will do the same for us.
Devotional Prayer: Lord, help me not to become discouraged in the position where You have placed me. Teach me to trust that You will fulfill Your purpose in my life. Thank You for making a plan that is perfect for me.
