Day 242: Free in Christ

Author: Debbie Russell

Today’s Scripture: 2 Corinthians 3:18

Central Thought: In Christ we are free from bondage.

In the days of Moses, God gave His people the Law. If they followed the Law, they would be tremendously blessed. But if they failed to follow its commands they would be brought into bondage.

God had another plan that was much better than the Law—He would give His Son, Jesus Christ, as the Redeemer for the sins of all mankind. If we are willing to accept God’s provision for Jesus to redeem us from our sins, we will be free in Jesus Christ. We will be free from the bondage of sin.

To enjoy true freedom, we must accept what Jesus did for us on the Cross and ask Him to be the Lord of our lives. Second Corinthians 3:17 tells us that there is liberty (freedom) where the Spirit of the Lord is. The choice is ours—bondage or freedom?

When we decide to invite Jesus Christ to live in our hearts, we choose freedom.

Devotional Prayer: Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus to thank You for providing redemption for me and all of mankind—and for paying the price that allows us to be free from bondage.
