Day 227: Compelled to Take Risks
Author: David ThomasToday’s Scripture: 1 Corinthians 9:16
Central Thought: Like Paul, God’s work in our lives should compel us to take risks for Him.
‘I am compelled to preach.” Those words could be considered Paul’s mission statement. Everything Paul did after his conversion spun out of those five words.
Why did Paul preach in the face of arrest? Why did he conduct missionary journeys? Why did he aggressively confront sin in the church? Simply, because he was compelled by his mission.
Paul couldn’t not share the salvation and grace he had experienced. Imprisonment, leaving the comforts of home, and the risk of upsetting friends—these negatives paled in comparison to his mission. He had to preach.
Now a question for us to consider: What compels us? May we take time today to consider what God has done in our lives, and may we feel compelled to share our experiences.
Devotional Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your salvation and grace. As I remember all the things You have done for me, may I be compelled to share Your love with others.
