Day 226: When Your Wall Is God’s Will

Author: David Thomas

Today’s Scripture: Nehemiah 6:16

Central Thought: It is not easy to turn vision into reality, but it is possible when we remember that our ultimate goal is to bring glory to God.

The wall of Jerusalem that had lain in ruins for more than a century now stood strong. That which the city’s enemies said could not be completed now could not be denied. Its presence could not be explained away, and it could be attributed only to the plan of God.

Throughout almost two months of hard labor, the people had constructed the wall despite the enemy’s varied attempts to derail the project. Now, their perseverance had resulted in even the enemies’ acknowledgment of God.

We face opposition as we work to execute God’s plans. We struggle with discouragement, and we need motivation to persevere. There is no better motivation than to know that one day, when the assignment is completed, our work can stand as a testimony to bring praise and glory to God.

Devotional Prayer: Lord, when I battle discouragement as I seek to do Your will, help me remember that I am working to bring glory to Your name.
