Day 120: Rejoice in God’s Lordship

Author: Crystal Ortmann

Today’s Scripture: Psalm 100

Central Thought: When we accept God’s lordship of our lives, we will have true joy.

Giving control of our lives to another can be frightening. We are taught from our childhood years to be independent and make our own choices and decisions. God wants us to use our minds to live full and productive lives. Still, the thought of submitting all that we are and have is terrifying. We struggle with this all our lives.

Impressed to do a word-study on God’s magnificence by looking up the words describing His majesty was a life-changing experience. This new look at the Lord and who He is overwhelmed me. It caused praises to leap to my lips and inspired the following poem (abridged version) about His majesty.

Majestic is He!

Descriptions of fire . . .Unthinkable beauty . . .
Power beyond understanding . . .

Earth and heaven shaking . . .Water roaring . . .
Blazing light and crashing sound!

All of these portray God. Each a facet of His glory . . .
Yet, only a minute glimpse of His greatness.

Majestic is He! Beyond comprehending, glorious!
Majestic is He!”

Acknowledging His majesty and lordship over us can change our lives. It is easy to give over our wills to Someone with those attributes. The more we learn about His character, the easier it is to trust Him with our lives.

Devotional Prayer: Lord, reveal Yourself to us and help us rejoice in Your wonderful lordship.
