Day 112: Practicing His Presence

Author: Gwen Miller

Today’s Scripture: Psalm 89:16-18

Central Thought: We can live a life of blessing as we read and live God’s Word.

The word blessed appears over and over in the Bible. When I come across it in my Bible reading, my spiritual antennae goes up. I want to know how to walk in the favor and blessing of God. According to this passage from Psalm 89, we are walking in God’s blessing as we acclaim or praise the Lord. A life of worship opens the door for blessings to flow into our lives. After all, He inhabits or dwells in the praises of His people.

Living a life of worship and praise is not automatic. It must be learned. Learning takes place by practice. One of my favorite ways to continually practice the presence of God is through meditation on God’s Word. I like to write a verse on an index card and carry it in my purse or put it on my desk and refer to it often throughout the day. The result is strength and favor.

Devotional Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for showing me in Your Word how I can live in Your blessing. I want to learn to practice Your presence all day long.
