A Mouse in a Barbecue!
Author: Angela CraigThe weather has been phenomenal here in the Pacific NW.
Last week at baseball practice we were having a barbeque to celebrate our All-Star kids. A friend and I pulled the old barbeque from the field shed. As we were chatting, I opened the lid and to our surprise, a small innocent mouse leaped into our sight. We both screamed and I dropped the lid, swiftly backing away.
Our screams lead to laughter as all the kids came running to see what had happened. How could a two-inch mouse surprise us like that?
Once the kids had made sure the mouse was out of its temporary home, we opened the barbeque again to find another surprise…this marvelous and intricate mouse house.
I could not get over what an amazing work of art this tiny little mouse had crafted.
If God created a simple little mouse so innovative and resourceful, imagine what He has in mind for us!
3 things I learned from a mouse in a barbeque:
- You are a masterpiece created for greatness! It is the truth. Ephesians 2:10 NLT says, “For [you] are God’s masterpiece. He has created [you] anew in Christ Jesus, so [you] can do the good things he planned for [you] long ago.”
- You were born to create. Albert Einstein said: “Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.” Henri Matisse said, “Creativity takes courage.” It is time you take those creative dreams within your heart and live them out. The world is waiting!!
- You are resourceful. Stop waiting for an opportunity to knock on your door. Make your dreams happen. Ask: What resources do I need to accomplish my goal? What do I already have? What do I need? Where do I learn it? Who will help me get there? Facing the naysayers in life is part of the creative process. Don’t let it stop you, let it empower you! Keep Romans 8:31 tucked safely away in your heart – “If God is for you, who can be against you?”
Go for it – The world is waiting for your masterpiece!
