God is Omniscient and Omnipresent.
God has many attributes that can explain what He is like and how He works in the world and the universe.
In this series, we are going to talk about two very important attributes of God. The first is that God is omniscient. That is, God already knows everything. He is the source of all knowledge and knows everything. Nothing is hidden from him, and there is nothing he does not know, including things of today, but also of the past and the future. He is indeed omniscient.
Look at what Psalm 139:1-6 says: “O Lord, you have searched my heart and know everything about me. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you know my
thoughts, even when I am far away. 3 You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. 4 You know what I’m going to say even before I say it, Lord. 5 You go before me and behind me. You put your hand of blessing on my head. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is so high that I cannot understand it!” (NLT) This is amazing. God already knows us and knows us completely. Psalm 147:4-5, “He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. 5 Our Lord is exalted and great in power; his understanding is infinite.” (NIV)
We can think of very intelligent people like Albert Einstein, or King Solomon, or Socrates, or anyone else who is intelligent or wise, and the intelligence of all of them combined cannot even compare to the knowledge of our God. Some think that the devil has a lot of knowledge, but only God is omniscient, not the devil.
God knows us and knows our situation. You can approach Him with faith and hope because He already knows your need and already has a plan to help and bless you. We can always trust God because He is omniscient. I am grateful to God because he has enough wisdom and knowledge to help and guide me in everything. How good it is that our God is omniscient and that he is the one who made everything and made it well.
This brings us to another attribute of God. Not only is he omniscient, but our God is also omnipresent. That is, he is everywhere at the same time. He is very great and fills the entire universe. Let’s look at Psalm 139 again, but verses 7-10: “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? 8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. 9 If I take the wings of the dawn, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, 10 even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me fast.” (NIV) Look at what Isaiah 66:1 says: “Thus says the Lord: Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What house can be built for me? Where will my resting place be?” (NIV) Also see Isaiah 40:12: “Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and wrapped up the heavens in his palm? Who has held the dust of the earth in a measure? Who has weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?” (NIV)
Our God is very great. Scientists say that our universe is 94 billion light years across. In other words, we cannot even comprehend how big the universe is. Our galaxy is about 100,000 light years across and contains between 100 million and 400 million stars. The verse we read in Isaiah 40:12 says that God measures the universe with his fingers. Our God is very great! Believe me, he is big enough to take care of us and provide everything we need. The beautiful thing is, even though he is so great, he loves us and takes great care of us, even though we make mistakes.
How wonderful it is to learn about God’s attributes. How wonderful it is to learn about these two attributes today, that God is omniscient and omnipresent. That is why we can trust him. He knows your struggles and trials, and without a doubt, he is sufficient to help and protect us always. I don’t know what you are going through, but I know that God loves you and cares for your life. It is time to seek this great God and receive from him what we need today.
