Faith Walk: Beauty From Ashes
Author: Dr. George FlatteryEvery scar has a story.
We all have scars. We have all been wounded whether it be by an unexpected illness, a loss, a betrayal, or by the mistakes we have made. Yet, our scars can have a redemptive purpose. They are there not to remind us of our pain but of the greatness of God. God never turns his back on us, especially when he sees our scars. What we went through was painful, but we have now come through healed and restored. We should never allow our scars to change the way we love and reach out to others. We should never hide our scars for they help us identify with others. They show that we are real. There is healing in our scars. They can inspire someone to continue to believe and persevere. People all around us are wounded. They are hurting, discouraged, and lonely. But when they see our scars and hear how God healed, restored and even blessed us, they can be renewed as well. Isaiah 61:3 tells us that God brings beauty from ashes (our scars) when we allow Him to use what we have been through for his glory.
