Faith Walk: Overcoming Hurt
Author: Dr. George FlatteryMany times we keep a mental record of past hurts by rehearsing what someone said to us or did to us repeatedly in our minds on a daily basis.
We remember the time they said it, the tone of their voice and what they said. The more we repeat a hurt, the bigger it becomes in our lives. We must not let our pain define who we are and destroy the potential of who we can become in Jesus. We must choose to release it. We must acknowledge that we hurt and give God permission to change our feelings. God is greater than our hurt. We must continue to be real and open and vulnerable with others. We must forgive. Forgiveness does not make the other person right; forgiveness sets us free.
