Daily Confessions

Author: Gil and Jane Burnett

The Bible says a lot about the importance of words and thoughts. Decades of research on the brain and toxic thoughts done by Dr. Caroline Leaf is reported in her book Who Switched off My Brain? Dr. Leaf is a dedicated Christian and states that “science is proving what the Bible has taught us all along.”

“it is also true that the mind is a battleground, with ongoing conflict between toxic thoughts and good thoughts, thoughts that serve your mental and physical health well and thoughts that deplete your body and mind of health. This battleground is located in the intricate memory networks, the amygdala, hippocampus and corpus callosum and the genetic code for free will.

A wealth of scientific evidence supports the manifold benefits of engaging in the battle, actively pouring good and correct information into your mind and body through the amygdala and hippocampus in your brain.

But what exactly is that correct information? At a basic level it is positive affirmation that replaces bad memories with supportive ones. You literally build a new network of new memories over the old. Such positive affirmation is the beginning of changing your thought processes to detox your brain.” Quoted from Dr. Leaf’s book, p. 35.

We have all said things about ourselves that are toxic, and others have likely said negative, hurtful things to us, as well. All of us have a need to speak positive, God-ordained affirmations that come from His Holy Word in order to change our thought processes and to change the image we have of ourselves.

Satan puts doubts in our minds about our value as people, about the assurance of our salvation and right standing with God, and about God’s feelings toward us. We may experience God’s presence and forgiveness at one time but then these doubts come and trouble us and we aren’t sure where we stand with Him.

The “Daily Confessions” are composed of scriptures that will assure you of scriptural truths concerning your life. Your confidence in His Word will increase, and thus, this confidence becomes a foundation from which you can live a more successful, productive life in God’s kingdom.

As you read these scriptures aloud, expect Holy Spirit to minister love, joy, and peace to your spirit. He will quicken the ones to you that are particularly significant to your life. Read as many as you can each day and you will increase in knowledge of His love for you. A child that knows he is loved generally enjoys a happier more productive life.

Hebrews 11:6 New King James Version (NKJV)

6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

“Father, I put my faith in you because I believe that you do exist. I also believe that you reward the people who diligently seek you because your Word says these things are true.”

Romans 5:8 New King James Version (NKJV)

8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

“Father, I thank you that you showed your love for me by having Jesus die for me even though I was still in a sinful condition.”

Romans 6:23 New King James Version (NKJV)

23 For the wages of sin is death, but the [a]gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

“Father, I thank you for the free gift of eternal life that I have received because of my faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ who is my Lord.”

Romans 10:9-10 New King James Version (NKJV)

9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

“Father, I have confessed verbally that Jesus is my Lord and I believe that you raised him from the dead. According to your Word, I am saved. I believe this in my heart and I have confessed it before people.”

Acts 2:38 New King James Version (NKJV)

38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the [a]remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

“Father, I have repented of my sins and for not believing Jesus was your Son. I have been baptized for the remission, forgiveness, of my sins and I believe I have received the gift of the Holy Spirit within me.”

2 Corinthians 5:21 New King James Version (NKJV)

21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

“Father, thank you that Jesus became sin for me and that I am now righteous before you because I am in Jesus Christ.”
